She and her younger sister were running away as fast as they could. But they felt the warm breath in their neck from the brutal Am Fah, that were chasing them down the streets. As the streets got less and less familiar, the Am Fah got closer and closer. For a while she was too scared to look behind. But when she stopped hearing the exhausted breathing of her sister, she had to. There she saw her small sister being violated by those wretched. With that view written in her memory, she felt to the ground praying for better days. And with her eyes full of tears the faced the sky and gave a cry of desperation and hope. She saw the bright light of the stars through her watery eyes and knew a new era would begin.
And under those stars another woman was crying, yet of happiness, while she was looking at her just born baby. While her fever immediately disappeared after the birth of the newborn, she could already sense that this wasn’t a normal baby. With two big blue eyes staring at her, she decided to name her Lucy, because of the bright light the stars were giving that night. From that day, the same light shined from the little girl.
From this day Lucy Gwyneth was her official name in the Canthan register. She lived in a time of divided nations and street crime, though you couldn’t read any of these horrors on her tender aged face as she lived in a peaceful village on the Shing Jea island, where there still rested a lifestyle in harmony with nature and with its inhabitants. But soon also here times changed. The harmed of the mainland came to find their luck on the island. Farms came out the ground like mushrooms and forests were cut down. More crime appeared on the streets and soon there was need of an army. And as Lucy’s father got called away for the army, she and her mother moved to live in the monastery, where she met her sister. Her sister Tai was 5 years older and was brought to the monastery because of Lucy’s birth. Therefore she hated Lucy from the day she was born, as Tai felt abandoned because of her.
Tai always tried to consume as much as time of her mother as she could to prevent her giving any to Lucy. Therefore Lucy became lonely and with her father being away, there was no one left to talk to. During the days she wandered often in the woods, where she learned a lot about all the herbs and trees. She gained knowledge of which plants were dangerous and which could cure you. On one of those ordinary days she saw a panda bear. She had never seen one as they were afraid of people and avoided them if they could. She wondered why it hadn’t fled, but then she saw the poor animal was hurt. As fast as she could she tried to find herbs that could stop the suffering animal. But none of all the different herbs and combinations could cure the panda. And at the feet of the dying animal the tears rolled over her cheeks. From those tears the wounds recovered and the bear regain its health. When the bear realized it was healthy again, it ran into the forest and disappeared.
The next morning Lucy couldn’t wait to tell her mother about what happened the day before. Though Lucy was bouncing of excitement, her mother stayed very calm, and realized it was time to tell her; ” I am comforted to know that you have chosen the path of light. It warms my heart to see that you have been blessed with the grace of Dwayna, just as your older sister has been blessed with that same grace. Though in your company I sense this feeling much stronger. Be careful with it.”
Lucy was still not completely aware of her abilities, until she went to the forest again, that same day. The panda bear returned to her with no marks of pain or any traces of scars on its body. The bear was aware of the fact that Lucy cured him. Lucy was happy to see the panda was going good and gave him some food and wandered on. But the panda followed her along the forest from a small distance, until she reached the edge of the forest. The next day the same thing occurred. And with the days Lucy and the panda grew friends, and after a week the panda felt so secure he went outside the forest with her. From this very moment she decided this was a friend that would last a lifetime and she found she should give it a name; Tommy. Never to be separated again.
